Anymaker Engines, Fuel, Belts, and Cables
A pretty chassis is a sculpture until fuel, cooling, belts, and cables exist.
Most failed first vehicles in Anymaker are not failed frames. They are closed bodies with an engine-shaped object inside and no path for fuel, heat, rotation, or electricity. Geometa’s pitch is technical on purpose: chassis, engine, cables, controllers, test. This page is the middle of that sentence. If the ladder is still crooked, go back to vehicle building.
The embedded gas-engine video is a method lesson from pre-launch footage, not a parts catalog. This wiki will not invent horsepower or unofficial component names. Early Access on 18 September 2026 is still upcoming.
The four reasons a pretty chassis will not start
Fuel has to reach the engine. An engine that looks seated in a bay is still a paperweight if the tank, lines, and whatever the fluid tool is meant to connect are missing or closed off by a plate you added for looks. Leave an access hole you can crawl. Career inventory limits make it tempting to skip a spare can; skipping the entire fuel path is how you push a sculpture home.
Cooling has to leave the bay. A sealed box around a gas engine is a kiln. Radiators, fans, ducts, or whatever cooling pieces you actually have unlocked need air and a mounting that survives the first pothole. Do not invent a specific radiator model here. Do look at wrecks. If a wrecked truck has a nose full of mesh and yours has a solid plate, believe the wreck.
Belts (and other mechanical links the component tool will let you place) have to carry rotation. An engine that fires but does not move wheels is a generator you forgot to connect. Trace a line from crank to gearbox to axle with your eyes before you skin the sides. The property tool is there so you can inspect a pulley instead of assuming it is decorative.
Cables have to carry the boring signals: ignition, lights, fans, a starter, a horn you will regret at night. The cable tool is not the logic tool. A cable is a wire. A microcontroller is a decision. If you only need “key on means fuel pump on,” try the simple path first. Microcontrollers is for the moment simple paths are not enough.
Fluids, the fluid tool, and access
The tool belt includes a fluid tool for a reason. Fuel and cooling are not telepathy. Route them the way you route beams: with clearance, with a plan to repair, and without trapping a fitting behind a panel you cannot remove. Remove/take-apart is how you steal a working bay from a wreck. Duplicate is how you copy a belt run that already works on the left side.
Sandbox at launch is the place to practice ugly engines in daylight with infinite supply and no wolves. Career will make you loot the next hose. Keep the engine bay as a room you can stand in. If you cannot reach a clamp, you did not finish the vehicle. Repair exists because crashes, weather, and combat will all touch this bay. Survival is about not dying on the first countryside drive; this page is about not stranding yourself with a full tank and a shredded belt.
Electrical enough to move, not enough to show off
Hour-two wiring should be a starter circuit and lights you can turn off so you are not a lighthouse for undead. Radio is a listed feature; it does not require a custom dimmer graph.
Do not begin with a custom microcontroller that dims interior lamps on a timer. Geometa has said logic should be easier than Stormworks, with drag-and-drop or text plus debug, step, and inspect. That is a gift for later. First, cable the minimum, then confirm with inspect that a value actually changes when you hit the switch. If it does not, the bug is the cable or the property, not your future PID loop.

Field testing without lying to yourself
Test on flat ground in daylight first. Noclip sandbox is for inspecting a belt you cannot see, not for pretending a vehicle works because you flew it over a hill. In career, pick a short loop back to a base so a failed start is a walk, not a night in the fog. Temperature, rain, and wind are in the weather list; a cooling setup that only works at noon may still cook you in a climb.
Boats and helicopters will add buoyancy, marine parts, jet engines, and rotors at Early Access launch. Land gas engines still teach fuel and belts first. What to read when the engine finally catches
Once it starts, you have a new problem set: hunger on long drives, night, and the urge to raid a bunker because you feel like an engineer. Until 18 September 2026, a running, ugly truck is the skill tree that matters.

Why will my Anymaker vehicle not start?
Most often the body is finished and the fuel, cooling, belt, or cable path is not. Inspect with the property tool, then follow this page before adding more plates. Vehicle building will not start an engine for you.
Is the cable tool the same as microcontrollers?
No. Cables carry signals and power. Microcontrollers make decisions. Keep the first starter circuit on cables, then use microcontrollers when you truly need logic, debug, and inspect.
Should I learn engines in sandbox or career?
Sandbox at Early Access launch is the cleaner classroom: infinite supply, daylight, no enemies. Career will make you loot hoses. Either way, use the build checklist so you stop skipping belts.
Will jet engines replace gas engines on launch day?
Jet engines and rotors are promised with boats and helicopters at Early Access. They do not replace the gas-engine lesson. Plan them on boats and helicopters and watch the roadmap.
Are there official horsepower numbers I should chase?
Not on this wiki. We do not invent stats. Rank engines only as parts tier expectations from alpha and demo footage, never as a live meta.
