Anymaker Vehicle Building in the World

Edge versus panel, frames you can walk around, and wrecks that teach faster than a blank grid.

Anymaker Vehicle Building

Anymaker’s building fantasy is not a floating blueprint. You stand in the dirt, snap to a grid of about 8 cm nodes, and grow a chassis the same way you would grow a porch: beam, face, opening, then the bits that move. Geometa has been clear this is in-world construction, closer to a physical kit than Stormworks’ separate CAD editor. You will walk around the work and clip your own shoulder on a beam.

This page stays on structure: edge versus panel, frames, symmetry by hand, wheels, doors and hinges, and reverse-engineering wrecks. Fuel, belts, and cables live on engines and wiring. Logic lives on microcontrollers. If you have not picked sandbox or career yet, bounce back to Getting Started.

Edge versus panel

The edge tool is how beams and frames appear: rails, crossmembers, roll bars, roof lines, the rectangle that will become a bed. The grid is fine, so a beam one node off only shows up when a wheel bay will not close. Work from a centerline you can see. Diagonals are useful for bracing, but they are a poor first stroke if you cannot yet see whether a rectangle is square.

The panel or plate tool skins faces. A panel without a frame is a leaf. A frame without panels is a climbing gym. Put enough structure down that the vehicle has a spine, then close floors and sides so you have somewhere to stand. Windows are their own tool: an opening is not just a missing plate.

The component tool is the catch-all for seats, wheels, and fittings that are not beams or skins. Property inspects what you just placed. Duplicate copies a bay that already works. Remove/take-apart is how you steal a door from a wreck.

Frames you can walk around

A good first frame is short. Long wheelbases look like trucks in screenshots and fold like noodles when you have not braced them. Keep the cabin over the engine bay so you can see belts. Leave a gap you can actually stand in.

Sandbox at Early Access launch is the honest classroom: all parts unlocked, infinite supply, noclip, daylight, no enemies. Career will make you loot the next beam. The build checklist is the order-of-operations page if you keep skipping wheels.

Symmetry is by hand. There is no promised magic mirror in the tool list this wiki will invent. Count nodes from the centerline. Duplicate a finished left bay onto the right only after the left bay is actually finished. If one wheel sits a node forward of the other, you will feel it on the first turn and blame steering.

Wheels, doors, and hinges

Wheels are components, not decorations. They need a bay that exists in 3D, clearance for travel, and a frame that will not slice the tire when the body flexes. Do not skin a wheel well shut and then ask why the vehicle sits on its belly. Place wheels early, even as dummies, so the rest of the truck grows around them.

Doors and other moving faces are hinge problems. A screenshot door is still a panel until a hinge and a latch exist. Build the opening first, then the moving piece, then the hardware. The same logic applies to tailgates and engine covers.

If night keeps interrupting a hinge, you wanted a base with a roof more than another chrome strip.

Reverse-engineering wrecks

The countryside is a syllabus. Wrecks and buildings are full of parts you can take apart. Career uses that loop to unlock pieces; sandbox lets you study the geometry without hunger. Walk a wreck with take-apart and the property tool. Notice the ladder frame, the door, the window, the bumper that is actually a beam with a plate.

Do not vacuum an entire house into your inventory on the first outing. Inventory is limited. Take the lesson, take the parts you need for the next bay, and leave. Survival is the page for when a wreck is also a bear’s dining room. Base building is the page for when you would rather drag a wreck home than rebuild it in a ditch.

Boats and helicopters are planned for Early Access with buoyancy, boat parts, jet engines, and rotors. They are not the first chassis. Plan them on boats and helicopters. The vehicles tier list is alpha- and demo-informed expectation, not a live-patch ranking.

What a finished-looking truck still lacks

If the body is closed, the doors swing, and the thing still will not start, you have left the vehicle-building page. Go to engines and wiring. If the engine runs and the lights do not, that is cables and maybe microcontrollers, not more plates. If you want a second set of hands holding a beam, that is co-op.

Steam Workshop is promised at Early Access launch. Download other people’s trucks after you can name the tools that built them. Until 18 September 2026 the game remains upcoming; treat the embedded truck video as a method lesson, not a parts catalog.

Read Controls if the tool belt still feels like a mystery novel. Read Preview if you are mixing trailer shots with the June demo. For part rankings, use the parts tier list. Build the skeleton you can walk around, skin it second, and make it move third.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Anymaker building, survival, and Early Access.

What is the difference between the edge tool and the panel tool?

Edge places beams and frames, the skeleton. Panel or plate skins faces. Use edge first enough to have a spine, then panel, and use the window tool for real openings. Controls lists the rest of the belt.

Is there a symmetry tool?

Do not count on a magic mirror this wiki has not confirmed. Count nodes from a centerline and duplicate a finished bay. Sandbox at launch is the safe place to practice that habit.

Should I copy a wreck or start from a blank grid?

Copy wrecks. Take-apart plus the property tool teaches ladder frames, door openings, and wheel bays faster than a blank field. Career also uses that loop to unlock parts.

Why will my truck not start after I close the body?

Closing plates does not create fuel, cooling, belts, or cables. Leave this page and follow engines and wiring. Keep first logic simple on microcontrollers.

When should I try a boat or a helicopter?

After you can build a short land chassis that drives. Buoyancy, boat parts, jets, and rotors are Early Access launch additions. Plan them on boats and helicopters and skim the vehicles tier list as expectation ranking only.
